History

Adport started off as a banner site, launched in July 2002, by Iman Moradi of Oculasm.org to coincide with the end of Year show at Huddersfield University.

The idea then was that this site would be hosted and targeted to the viewer by means of banner advertising networks.

banner advertising space of a portal like msn.co.uk

The concept therefore was to inspire a new breed of similar sites, based on minimalism and creativity. And to challenge the current approach adopted by most design professionals about having homepages residing at a static address.

The project was subsequently destined to be a collaborative forum of some form.

Developed in November 2002, the Adport browser – pseudo centralised webring, has so far been the primary response.
